St. Mary's Springs dominated the Flyway golf season yet again on the way to a ninth-straight conference championship.
The Ledgers won the team title with 11 points, which was 15.5 ahead of second-place Campbellsport.
The Flyway awards points based on order of finish. The winner of the event gets a point. Springs won all but one event this season, which was the meet at Campbellsport that Winnebago Lutheran Academy won.
Springs' dominance was reflected in the Flyway all-conference awards. The Ledgers had three first-team members, including the conference player of the year, junior Tyler Hoffmann.
Hoffmann said he was happy first and foremost to continue the tradition that Springs golf has built.
"Winning conference the past three years is a really cool thing," Hoffmann said. "There's been so many good players through the program and I'm glad we could continue their legacy in making it nine straight."
Hoffmann, who won or tied to win three of the nine conference events, finished the season with 313 strokes, which was seven better than Mayville's Ray Baldus.
Baldus, a senior, had one win, when he was the medalist at Hickory Hills on May 13.
Hoffmann said being player of the year was his goal since the end of last year when he came in third behind senior teammate Donovan McGalloway and Lomira senior Pierce Zimmel
"Last summer after coming up short to Donovan and Pierce, I knew I had to get better," Hoffmann said. "I spent as much time as I could at the course practicing.
"I'm glad the hard work paid off and I was able to achieve that goal."
Khalil Rebek and Ben Baker joined Hoffmann on the first team; Rebek had two wins and Baker had one this spring. Lomira's Preston Jung rounded out the first team. Jung won the conference championship meet at White Lake Country Club.
Lomira's Alex Luedtke and NFDL's Drew Stettbacher headlined the second team. Luedtke won two events early in the season. Stettbacher got the win at Mayville.
All five golfers in Springs lineup made one of the three all-conference teams and seven of the nine Flyway teams were represented.
All-Flyway teams are decided based on total strokes during conference meets and each golfer's worst two scores are also dropped. If I golfer misses and event or is disqualified for an event, that counts as a dropped score.
