Softball (Sectional Semifinals) - Laconia and Mayville

Six of the eight Flyway teams were assigned to the same regional so having just two teams left is not a huge surprise as the WIAA usually requires conferences to knock themselves out of postseason play.

The No. 3 Spartans made easy work of Cedar Grove-Belgium, winning 14-0, before upsetting No. 2 Lomira 3-2 on Thursday afternoon.

Mayville, the region's top seed, beat a pair of conference opponents: a 14-0 win against Omro in the regional semifinals and a 1-0 win against No. 4 North Fond du Lac in the regional final.

Laconia plays at Mayville on Tuesday in the sectional semifinal. The winner will be the favorite in the sectional final against the weaker bottom-half winner.

Golf (Sectionals) - Springs, Mayville, Lomira, Campbellsport, NFDL, Laconia

North Fond du Lac and Laconia's teams are both done after each failed to qualify for sectionals, but Orioles freshman Drew Stettbacher and Spartans junior Jack Hoinacki each made it through as individuals.

Stettbacher will golf in the Grafton Sectional at Fire Ridge while Hoinacki competes at Northbrook Golf Course in the Luxemburg-Casco Sectional.

Campbellsport is also part of the Grafton Sectional after a fourth-place finish at the Sheboygan Falls Regional this past Monday. Senior Austin Cissa led the team in regionals with an 86.

Mayville and Lomira each advanced through the Delavan-Darien Regional and will play at House on the Rock in the River Valley Sectional. Mayville's Ray Baldus and Lomira's Preston Jung were both All-Flyway First Team members and both finished inside the top-four at regionals.

Springs was second at the Valders Regional, qualifying the Ledgers for their home sectional at South Hills.

Tyler Hoffmann, the Flyway player of the year, and Ben Baker have been the top-two seeds most of the year for Springs, but keep an eye on Khalil Rebek, who has shown the ability to go low and might be a key if the Ledgers make it to state.

The top-two teams and top-three individuals, who are not members of a qualifying team, in each sectional will participate in the State Tournament on Monday and Tuesday, June 3-4 at Blackwolf Run, Kohler (WIAA Golf Tournament Procedure: 2c)

Baseball (Regional Semifinals) - Lomira, Laconia, Campbellsport, WLA, Mayville, Springs

North Fond du Lac and Omro each lost in first-round action in the regionals, leaving six teams from the Flyway.

The first-round upset went to Springs, which hammered Lourdes Academy 15-0. WLA and Mayville each won one-run games to advance to the regional semifinals.

Laconia, Lomira and Campbellsport each earned top-three seeds, which came with a first-round bye.
