Flyway volleyball all-conference awards

Laconia's Eva Engel capped off a phenomenal volleyball career as the Flyway player of the year.

The senior outside hitter was one of three Spartans to earn first team honors and was one of just two players in the conference to be chosen unanimously.

Engel finished fifth in the conference in kills with 179 in the regular season. She added another 42 kills in Laconia's four playoff matches.

Senior teammates Addison McCauley, an outside hitter, and middle Tierney Madigan joined Engel on the first team.

McCauley's 205 kills and 62 aces both led the conference in the regular season. Madigan was second in the Flyway in blocks with 44 while also recording 149 kills.

St. Mary's Springs senior Lexi Coon, who played both libero and outside for the Ledgers, joined Engel as the only players unanimously voted first team by the coaches of the conference.

Coon was the conference-leader in digs with 394 on the season, while also surpassing 1,000 career digs in the match against Laconia. Coon demonstrated her versatility, finishing fourth in aces with 48 and also notching 74 kills.

The conference selected two first-team setters. Mayville's Aubrey Thom led the conference with 575 regular-season assists and Springs' Braelyn Lewis was fourth with 289.

Lewis also played outside at times for the Ledgers and recorded 151 kills.

Campbellsport sophomore Ellie Smith was the final first-team selection and was the only non-senior picked. Smith finished the regular season with 194 kills for the second-place Cougars.

Similarly to the first team, Laconia dominated the second team selections as well with seniors Aubrey Leonard and Payton Morgan as well as sophomore Finley Morgan.

Leonard, a libero, had a team-high 292 digs on the season. Payton Morgan, a right-side hitter, had 135 kills and 29 blocks. Finley Morgan, a middle, finished the year with 154 kills and 47 blocks.

Campbellsport had two second-team selections. Senior setter Carleigh Ward, who was third in the conference with 295 assists, and Emma Muraski, a versatile sophomore who had 202 kills and 235 assists.

Emily Derkowski from Mayville was on the second team. Derkowski was second in the Flyway with 203 kills and third in digs with 332.
