Girls soccer playoff seedings released

Despite recently clinching the Flyway title, St. Mary's Springs is not the highest-seeded team in playoff action.

The Ledgers (13-6) are the No. 3 seed in Division 4, Sectional No. 3.

Springs is in the same sectional as Cedar Grove-Belgium, which has been ranked No. 1 in D4 all but one week the entire season. Sheboygan Lutheran/Christian is also in the sectional. The Ledgers lost to both of those teams earlier this year.

The regional semifinal round is on May 30. Springs hosts Madison Country Day.

Four other Flyway teams are in the same sectional as the Ledgers. Mayville (9-5-1) is the No. 7-seed and will host Kohler in the regional semifinals.

Winnebago Lutheran, Hustisford/Dodgeland and Campbellsport are also in the same sectional and will all have to go on the road.

Ninth-seeded WLA (5-7-2) is at Living Word Lutheran. Hustisford/Dodgeland, the No. 11 seed, is in Waupun to play Central Wisconsin Christian and No. 13 Campbellsport (3-9-1) will go to Ozaukee/Random Lake.

Lourdes Academy/Valley Christian (8-1-2) earned the No. 2 seed in D4, Sectional No. 2. The only team seeded ahead of them is the defending D4 state champion, Kiel. The Knights host Valders to open postseason play.

Omro (5-8-1) is also in Sectional No. 2. Despite a solid year in conference play, the Foxes are the No. 13 seed and will go to St. Mary Catholic.

The North Fond du Lac/Oakfield (8-7-1) co-op plays in Division 3 and are the No. 10 seed in Sectional No. 2, which features two of the top-three teams in D3.

The Orioles are at Marinette for the regional semifinals. If they win, they will likely match up with second-seeded Notre Dame.

Lomira and Wayland do not appear in any of the brackets as of Sunday night. Flyway Focus has not yet confirmed that those teams will not participate in the postseason.
