Golf season preview

St. Mary's Springs and Flyway golf championships have long been synonymous.

The last time Springs did not win the Flyway was back in 2014 when Winnebago Lutheran won behind the efforts of eventual WIAA D2 state champion Chris Colla.

During that span from 2015 until now, the Ledgers have won eight-straight conference titles and had a run of four-straight WIAA D3 state championships (2015-2018).

Last season, Lomira and its D2 state qualifier, Pierce Zimmel, pushed Springs, but the Ledgers were too much once again. Zimmel finished T6 at state. Springs had two first-team performers last spring, Donovan McGalloway and Tyler Hoffmann, who is back as a junior.

Springs also returns honorable-mention senior Jameson Ahern.
