Winnebago Lutheran sophomore goalkeeper Elayna Schultz made scoring a difficult puzzle to solve for the Oostburg soccer team on Tuesday night.
In the 65th-minute, though, Dutch senior forward Ava Krier finally picked the lock and gave Oostburg the 1-0 win.
Schultz finished unofficially with 12 saves. Coach Rev. David Haag said his team knew what they had in Schultz going back to last season.
"We saw last year that Elayna certainly had the capability," Haag said. "She showed some flashes that she could be a good goalie.
"She's showing signs of being a really quality keeper."
The Vikings (0-2) had several opportunities in either half despite Oostburg dominating the possession and the attempts on goal.
Haag said he believes WLA did a good job of keeping its composure after the Oostburg (1-2) goal.
"[Our girls] continued to play as well has they had before [Oostburg] scored the goal," Haag said. "They missed some wide open opportunities so they deserved to get the goal they finally got.
"It was obviously a very fair result."
