Hayden Schabel blasted a three-run home run that went sailing over the center-field fence in the top of the seventh inning on Tuesday night.
Mayville's senior catcher drove in all of the Cardinals' runs in their 4-0 Flyway win against Winnebago Lutheran Academy.
"I'm always looking to get my teammates to score and I'm looking to drive in runs any way I possibly can," Schabel said. "Going in with that mindset that someone else is more important than you are really motivates me to hit the ball."
Schabel finished 3-for-3 with the four RBIs. Third baseman Izzy McFadden scored twice from Schabel hits. McFadden was 2-for-4.
Mayville (9-2 overall, 8-1 in Flyway) pitcher Allie Schwirtz was terrific in the circle, striking out 13 batters during her complete-game win. Schwirtz gave up just two hits and allowed only four Vikings to reach base; none made it past second.
Schabel said she is proud of the bond she has with Schwirtz and likes getting a front row seat to watch her pitch.
"Allie is a stud," Schabel said. "We goof around school all the time; we're best friends off the field, but our dynamic is just different, we read each other's minds pretty well.
"Allie just throws gas, she's always improving every offseason. She's fantastic and I love catching for her."
WLA (4-8, 2-7) junior Maddie Anhalt pitched well, for she struckout 12. Mayville coach Steve Pliner said teams can't take anything for granted in the challenging Flyway.
"You can't sleep in the Flyway at all, it's tough up and down," Pliner said. "I would say we haven't clicked completely yet. We were just talking about how we aren't where we were last year yet, but we're ready to get there. Just keep plugging away and show up every day."
