Allie Schwirtz did it all for Flyway-champion Mayville this season and the coaches of the Flyway conference recognized her performance, naming her the player of the year.
Schwirtz is a two-way player for the Cardinals, hitting seven home runs offensively and going 15-3 with 153 strikeouts in the circle.
Schwirtz headlined the first team along with five other unanimous selections, including teammate Hayden Schabel. Mayville’s catcher hit three homers on the season from the third spot in the order.
Third baseman Izzy McFadden was the third selection for Mayville. The Cardinals had three selections, which was tied with Lomira and Laconia for the most.
State runner-up Laconia’s Aubrey and Addison Maurer, Lomira’s Taylor Bloohm and St. Mary’s Springs’ pitcher Gracie Konkol rounded out the unanimous first-team picks.
Laconia also had leadoff hitter Emma Bohn selected; Lomira’s Savanna Frea and Trista Gassner were picked to the first team.
Campbellsport catcher and cleanup hitter Megan Truse was the only freshman selected to the first team. She hit .403 and drove in 13 runs for the Cougars.
North Fond du Lac senior Lauren Stettbacher rounded out the first team.
Megan McCarty from Campbellsport headlined the second team. She hit .358 with 20 RBIs.
Mayville added three more second-team picks with pitcher Hannah Wolf, shortstop Kate Aumann and right fielder Addy Youngbeck, who hit four home runs.
Both Lomira pitchers, Nora Buske and Haleigh Caspary, were second-teamers.
