Whether Lily Schultz had a no-hitter or not is up for some debate.
Her dominance in the game was not.
Schultz threw a complete-game shutout to lead Laconia softball to a 2-0 win against Winnebago Lutheran Academy on Wednesday afternoon at Taylor Park.
The play in question was in the top of the fifth when the Vikings' Kylah Simon popped a ball up that landed between first and second. WLA (4-9 overall, 2-8 in Flyway) scored the play a hit; Laconia tabbed it an error on Cambree Johnson.
Schlutz was dominant regardless of the decision, striking out 13 batters. Simon was the only Vikings player to reach base.
Schultz helped herself at the plate, for she got the Spartans (11-7, 6-4) on the board in the fourth inning with an RBI single, which drove in Aubrey Maurer.
Aubrey Maurer turned into provider in the sixth when she hit a sacrifice fly to left field, driving in Addison Maurer. Addison went 2-for-3.
Maddy Anhalt took the loss for WLA, giving up seven hits and striking out nine. It is the second time in as many nights that Anhalt was credited with a loss in a game that the Vikings failed to score.
