Springs loses first game of season to Rockets

Cedar Grove-Belgium junior forward Cora Erickson smashed the ball into the bottom right corner in the 53rd minute.

The goal capped off a 13-minute stretch to start the second half that allowed the No. 2 Rockets to put the game out of reach on their way to a 4-0 win against No. 9 St. Mary's Springs on Monday night from Smith Field.

The Ledgers (2-1) held Erickson and the high-powered Cedar Grove-Belgium team out of the net in the first half despite a couple of good chances.

That ended quickly after the intermission. The Rockets (4-0) scored twice inside the first minute of the second half, about 30 seconds between goals from Erickson and Kami Horn.

Erickson finished the scoring in the 66th minute with her hat trick. Tonight's goals bring her season tally to 11 in just four matches.

Springs senior goalkeeper Annie Barr had a nice night. She finished with 8 saves, including a tip in the 64th minute to force a corner kick.
