T&F: Omro boys and girls finish third in Valders

Omro track and field battled in what turned out to be tight team races at the EWC Track Invite on Saturday in Valders.


Both teams finished third behind Southern Door and Oostburg. The boys team scored 59.5 points and the girls, 58.


Senior Jack Wellhoefer won both the shot put and discus. His discus throw was a personal-record 144-feet.


Sophomore Lucas Kasuboski and junior Mason Huth each won an event and was runner-up in another. Kasuboski won the 800-meter run with a time of 2-minutes, 5.81-seconds; he was second in the 1600. Huth won the 300 hurdles in 42.49 and was runner-up in the 110 hurdles.


Other notable finishers for the Foxes boys team included Keagan Miller, who was second in the triple jump and third in the 200; and Andrew Kilgas, who was runner-up in the 400.


The only boys relay team to run, the 4x800, finished in second with a time of 9:20.09.


Charlee Linse, a sophomore, was the top girls performer. She won the 400, running in 1:03.59 and also helped lead the 4x400 relay team to a win. She ran the relay with Ava Koch, Julia Koch and Madeline Chase.


Linse also scored points in the 110 hurdles, in which she finished second.


The girls 4x200 and 4x800 relays teams each finished second. Chase was part of the 4x200 team; she also finished second in the 200, just ahead of sophomore Ava Koch.


Senior Julia Koch, who was part of the 4x800 team, was runner-up in the 300 hurdles with a time of 52.40.


Junior Jocelyn Alvarez was the top field performer for Omro's girls, finishing third in the shot put.
