Anna Willis went flying into the Oostburg penalty area trying to create havoc.
That's exactly what she created, stealing the ball and then pressuring the Dutch into a wild clearance. The attempted kick deflected off of sophomore defender Macy Bruggink into her own goal.
Willis' energy up front helped to lead the No. 9 Ledgers to a 2-0 nonconference win against No. 10 Oostburg on Friday night at Smith Field.
"We always want to put pressure on them and make sure that they struggle getting the ball out and that they can't find other players," Willis said.
Willis also scored the opening goal when she got a pass from captain Ellie Judkins and sent a powerful shot into the bottom right corner.
It's continuing to be a familiar combination for Springs (1-0), Judkins and Willis combined for both goals in the team's first game at New Holstein last week.
"Ellie and I look to work off each other," Willis said. "I feel like we've gotten closer on and off the field. We work well together."
The match was a midfield battle during most of the night. Oostburg (0-2) struggled to get offense going, which Ledger coach Paul Haase attributed to his team's effort.
"I think we have to work on our passing and ball control and stuff like that, but our hustle definitely came out in the end here," Haase said. "I thought our girls played well."
