Rosalie Hilbert shot a free kick from about 22 yards away on the right side of the field with less than five minutes to go.
The ball sailed just over the crossbar and out of bounds.
That free kick was the final chance for Winnebago Lutheran Academy's girls' soccer team to tie Kewaskum. The Vikings lost 3-2 on Thursday night from the Fond du Lac Soccer Complex.
Hilbert was trying to duplicate the success she had just a few minutes earlier when she scored a free kick from the left side of the field after junior Kyah Rathje was fouled. The powerful shot sailed into the left side of the net, which cut the Kewaskum (3-1) lead to one.
The situation looked dire for the Vikings (0-3) in the 37th minute when Indian's junior Emily Melzer scored her second goal of the game to give Kewaskum a 3-0 lead. Melzer dribbled down the right side of the field and scored with a shot to the near post.
About a minute later, WLA senior captain Leah Theisen restored hope when she broke away from the defense and scored right before halftime.
The Indians controlled the match. They had 14 shots on goal to the Vikings' four. They also earned six corner kicks, which WLA struggled to defend.
Melzer scored the first goal in the game in the 20th minute when she was unmarked on a corner and her shot deflected off a WLA defender and into the net.
Eight minutes later, Jadin Czuppa got a free header, which she powered into the left side of the net. Freshman midfielder Cami Boelte assisted on both corners that resulted in goals.
WLA goalkeeper Elayna Schultz had her second-straight game of double-digit saves with 11.
